 | UltraGlas components may be specified in annealed, heat-strengthened, and fully tempered strengths which can meet or exceed codes for safety glass, when properly ordered.
Annealed Glass is untempered glass. Although not as strong on its surface as tempered glass, it is more stable, especially at its edges and can usually have minor fabrication done, if required.
Heat-Strengthened Glass has been toughened to increase its durability over annealed glass. It is not as strong as fully tempered glass, but it is more stable and will not explode as tempered glass will, thus it usually remains in place when broken. It is used in high-rise applications, so broken and shattered glass wont fall to the street. | | Tempered Glass is about 5 times stronger on its surface than annealed glass, but its edges are more volatile. Unless required by code to be safety glass, annealed glass thickness may be increased to provide greater strength.
Laminated Glass UltraGlas can support the application of laminated glass and applied films for horizontal surfaces, stair treads and suspended flooring this process is used for compliance with safety glass codes, as dictated by application and use.
